Frankfurt is a city in Germany, officially the Federal Republic of Germany. The state of Hesse, in which Frankfurt is located, located on the banks of the Main River, is Germany’s most densely populated settlement and the strongest economic region.

Since medieval times, Frankfurt has been one of Germany’s most important urban centers. An independent imperial city from the High Middle Ages, first mentioned in documents in 794. A city-state for five centuries, Frankfurt was among the most important cities in the Holy Roman Empire where the coronation ceremonies of the emperors who ascended the throne were held. Between 1848 and 1849 it hosted the first independently elected German Parliament.

Today, Frankfurt is an important financial, exhibition and service center not only in Germany but also in Europe, and is also the only German major city called Alpha World Cities. It hosts the European Central Bank, the German Central Bank, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and the Frankfurt Fair. Frankfurt has the highest skyscrapers in Europe. Most of the skyscrapers belong to banks. Most of these buildings, the tallest of which is the Commerzbank Tower, were built in the last 20 years.

How to get to Frankfurt ✈️

There are direct flights to Germany’s financial center Frankfurt from Istanbul Airport and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Turkish Airlines, Onur Air and Lufthansa fly from Istanbul Airport, and Pegasus Airlines from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport with flights of 3 hours and 15 minutes, 7 days a week, to Frankfurt Airport.

Thanks to its central location, it is one of the most important traffic nodes in Europe, with Frankfurt Airport, Central Station, Frankfurt intersection point and the busiest motorway network worldwide.

Transportation from Frankfurt Airport to the city center: Frankfurt Airport is located 12 km from Frankfurt city center. You can reach the city center from the airport by train, UBER, taxi and car rental alternatives.

The train departing from Airport Terminal 1 takes 15 minutes to reach Frankfurt (Main) Hbf Train Station in the city center. Train ticket is 13 euro. It takes 20 minutes to reach the city center from the airport by taxi, and the taxi fare is 35 euros.

It is also among the options to go to Frankfurt by connecting flights from different cities in Germany and Europe. Due to the developed railway system in Europe, you can also reach from different cities by high-speed train or bus companies such as Flixbus.

Frankfurt places to visit 📌

Although it is known as a business and trade center, Frankfurt is a city worth exploring with its rich cultural and artistic life, historical and touristic stops. Art centers on both sides of the Main River are among the most important museum districts in Germany.

Museums in this area include the Museum of Communication, the Giersch Museum, the Museum of World Cultures, the Museum of Applied Art, and the Liebieghaus.

The Goethe-Haus, the house of the German writer Goethe, is one of the largest cathedrals in Germany, Kaiserdom St. Bartholomäus, the 600-year-old town hall Römer, the Frankfurt Zoo with 4,500 animals from 500 different species, the 256-meter-high Messeturm (Exhibition Tower) and the Silver (Silver) Tower are also places to see.
